Asking Christians, what is the worst sin in God’s Book:
- Sexual choice, persuasion, orientation?
- Drug use?
- Disobeying God?
I’m almost sure each of us has one that we believe is the worse. But guess what? There is none worse than the other.
For all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of God. This is not a death sentence for the Christian who believes. But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Christians, (those who believe) are justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; (Romans)
So the question is not “which sin is worse” but has there been justification through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ? If so there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the unbelievers also, not one of these sins is worse than the other. They are all condemning for them for the same reason. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
So the issue is not severity of sins but what has been done for the problem of sin. Jesus Christ has the answer.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now I make known to you, brethren the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
Now are any of these sins worse than the others in believer or unbeliever alike? Not likely. The answer is not believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the action of which took away all those sins that causes eternal death. This is the worse sin of all, not believing God.
This is not head knowledge, this is trusting Him for ourselves as if our lives depend on it, because it does. Knowing the facts He tells us are true and trusting that He will do just as He says He will.
God bless you.
