Falling Rocks, Earthquakes and War
In the past year, we’ve seen a lot! What can it all mean? A new term for the U.S President, a new term for an Israeli Prime Minister, War and death in Syria and a rogue nation of North Korea. A Pope who resigns. Lightning, Falling Rocks (Russia) and U.S. Earthquakes and War and sounds from the sky. Again, what can it all mean?
Prophecy buff that I am, of course I’m crusing around checking out the latest videos and sermons of those who know or think they know. Regardless, of what I think about I had a sobering moment in the process.
Let’s see what the Bible says.
As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.” For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of war. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.
“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. ”
In verse 12, tells us that because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.
We see the things that are happening suddenly in the news. I am waiting for Jesus Christ to return for His church. There are many birth pangs that I believe are appearing. This though is not my main thought for today. One verse that I’d like to focus on to bring me to my subject is verse 12 in Matthew 24. It’s subject is lawlessness.
First, let us be reminded of the Good News while there is still time. That Good News is Jesus Christ. As a Christian, it is my desire to tell people about Him. Despite that, I know that I work with many each day to whom I am silent about Jesus Christ and the Good news and for this I’m sure I will be held accountable for that. Regardless, my heart bleeds for the lost. I do try to get out the Word in the ways I can. Facebook didn’t seem appropriate at the time although I’d love to share there as well but here my thoughts lie on a Word-press Blog.
Ok, so what is the Good News? We’ve heard it before. We are created by God, but man fell from His good graces when Adam disobeyed God. Because of Adams sin, that sin was passed on to all men and we became a fallen race. Dead to God spiritually and out of grace with Him. To fix the mess we’re in, God did something for us we could never do since we are dead. When was the last time you saw something dead do anything other than rot and decay? The fact is that before we could do anything, something or someone had to make us alive again and in touch with God. That Someone was God. The Bible tells us that God sent His only Son to die on the Cross for the Sin of the Whole World. The only way to make that effective for each of us personally to make us alive again is to believe. We have to believe and not just in facts but we have to repent, change our minds and believe God. Why do we have to repent or to change our minds? Well, because as you know, we are not born immediately knowing there is a God or having a mind-set that is favorable toward Him. As you probably know, most people and ourselves also have had to be in contact with Him and with His Word, the Bible, which tells us all about Him and our World. Even then, we have to change our minds from unbelief to belief. Think that is easy? Think again. How many people do you know that believe? How many in government, news outlets, etc do you know who believe?
Anyway, I’m getting a little away from my topic and yet there is information one has to know to get to my point. Men are dead in Sin, spiritually dead to God and they don’t believe. There is a truth out there and it’s this. God so loved the World that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ that whosoever BELIEVES on Him, shall not perish but shall have eternal life. We call that God’s amazing Grace. Now what caused me much soberness last night is this thing. I believe Falling rocks, earthquakes and war are an increasing sign that the return of Jesus Christ is very near, for His Church, at any time, for the World at least 7 years after the return for the Church.
I want to focus on these words, lawlessness, the lawless one and truth and belief. If Jesus Christ returned for His church today, who is left behind? It is those who do not believe and are not saved. The time will come when for 7 years there is lawlessness and a lawless one and many who do not believe. These will be the signs of the times.
In accord with this, these things are what brought about a sobering moment for me. God really is good and is a God of love, but His patience does have an end. The Bible tells us all though it that one day, evil will be repaid for what it has is and has done.
In the second chapter of 2 Thessalonians we read of the times of the end. There is a point when God says “no more”. No more dealing with unbelief. God does not force people to believe in His Goodness and one day will say one way or another, fine, have it your way! If you don’t want to believe, then you will continue in unbelief.
Let’s read it.
2 Thessalonians 2
verse 1. with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him
verse 2. apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction.
What lawlessness does:
verse 4 : opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. (antichrist)
The lawless ones destiny:
verse 8: then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
But before the Lord takes care of him, Who is he:
verse 9: the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
Okay, folks that is sobering. The one comes with the activity of Satan and comes with (if I understand this correctly) the wickedness of deceiving those who perish, who did not receive the truth so as to be saved.
What is that truth that saves? Jesus Christ said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”. Jesus Christ said” No man comes to the Father but by Him.” There is no other name under heaven by which men may be saved but by Him, Jesus Christ. And belief is the vehicle to do so. If you are alive you have until your last breath to believe the truth and be saved so you don’t become one of the ones in the next verse.
God seems to finally say “ENOUGH”. Enough of unbelief in Him, enough of disregarding His gift of salvation through His precious Son. Enough of going your own way.
Verse 11 tells us this: For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false. One day those who didn’t want to believe God will forever believe what is false.
The reason and outcome: verse 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
I am not a pastor nor anything like that but these verses tell me that people have a choice to believe and accept the precious gift of Jesus Christ so that they can be saved but I believe it also tells me that one day, the choice will no longer be there and judgment for unbelief will fall. The Bible tells us this in Hebrews: And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement.
See, the signs point to that time of judgment for all who are not saved and who are alive on that day, but the Word also tells us that after death comes judgment.
Do you really want to take the chance of not having another day, another chance to believe? Jesus Christ loves us. Won’t you believe today?
